Optimum Nutrition is one of two sports nutrition companies owned by Optimum Nutrition Inc. (the other is American Body Building). Since its outset, Optimum Nutrition has had the goal of producing the top quality dietary supplements at affordable prices. To quote their official mission statement, they want “to produce distinctive, affordable, premium-quality products... [and] meet the demands of a dynamic market with innovative products.”

You have probably heard of or even tried some of Optimum Nutrition’s “innovative products” (and if you haven’t tried any of them yet, you can buy ON products online from our store at discounted prices). Some of the top sellers from Optimum Nutrition include the very popular 100% Whey Gold Standard, Vassive NO Formula X and Nitro Core 24. Other Optimum Nutrition supplements include creatine and glutamine tablets.

Optimum Nutrition’s tagline is “The Bigger Picture”, which gives a clue to where Optimum Nutrition targets its products. Optimum Nutrition has specially geared its nutritional supplement line for body builders who want to get bigger muscles. Protein and protein supplements are the one area that Optimum Nutrition are best known for, although their other supplements are certainly of top quality. Optimum Nutrition specializes in protein powders that can be added to other food (e.g. to desserts, stews, omelettes or soups) as well as in shake form. As already mentioned, ON’s top selling dietary supplement is the Gold Standard 100% Whey (the name says it all), although they produce a number of other whey products, as well as a casein supplement, an egg supplement and a soy-based protein supplement suitable for vegetarian athletes or those with dairy intolerance/allergies. Optimum Nutrition supplements come in a range of flavours, although the Any Whey protein powder (part of the 100% Gold Standard Whey range) is unflavored, making it more versatile for adding to other food – it does not jar with the flavor of meat, unlike the sweeter flavored varieties of protein supplements – banana cream flavor may be all very well in a curry, but isn’t all that good in a chicken sandwich.
